David Horowitz is well known for his Emmy winning "Fight Back!™ With David Horowitz." television series. But equally popular with his audience are his syndicated newspaper columns, best-selling books, radio features on Jones Radio Network and his long-form show, "Fight Back! Talk Back!" on Talk Radio Network, and numerous television appearances. The latest in this lineup is his popular consumer website, fightback.com, which has attracted hundreds of thousands of internet users.

David Horowitz has enjoyed a solid reputation as a seasoned journalist for well over thirty years. He was an investigative reporter, writer and producer for NBC's "Huntley-Brinkley News Report" in New York. In 1963, David opened the first Saigon News Bureau for NBC, and served as a network correspondent and cameraman during the Vietnam conflict.

After returning from Vietnam, David developed and administered "Call For Action" at WMCA Radio, in New York,. This program was the first on-air consumer complaint service, reaching out to radio audiences to help them resolve their problems. Today, "Call For Action" is still a part of programming at radio and television stations across the country.

Over the years, he reported for a variety of other news outlets, such as the Chicago City News Bureau, and Peoria Journal Star in Illinois. David also was a reporter and anchor for KRNT (television and radio) in Des Moines, Iowa. Another notable journalistic credit for David is his international television coverage of the Apollo 15 splashdown in the South Pacific, where he was unexpectedly surrounded by Communist Russian warships observing the event.

In various positions at NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNBC, he earned a reputation for courageous reporting. This includes the 1971 earthquake in Los Angeles, California, during which he risked his life providing the only live television coverage of the disaster for several hours, on a worldwide broadcast originating from the NBC studio parking lot in Burbank.

In 1989, he was held hostage by a gun-wielding mental patient, during a live news broadcast on KNBC-TV. The event was broadcast internationally. And although the "gun" turned out to be a toy, the incident became the beginning of an campaign around the world, spearheaded by David, to mark "look alike" weapons and toys so they can be easily identified instead of being confused with real weapons.

He was a regular guest on both the "Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," and "The Today Show" for eight years. David has been a featured guest on a broad range of other talk, news and variety television shows, including David Letterman, Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey and "20/20."

David was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and a Master's Degree, with distinction, from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In 1995, Northwestern University honored him with the school's service medal, and in 1997, he was the first graduate elected to Medill's "Hall of Achievement." David also did post-graduate study at Columbia University in public law and government, as a recipient of the prestigious CBS News Fellowship for Post Graduate Study.

David has spent his career researching and reporting about consumer issues and product safety, and educating American consumers about their rights in the marketplace. David Horowitz has won 15 Emmy Awards for his "Fight Back!" television series, documentaries and news programs. To honor his consumer reporting, he has received over 400 awards from government, industry and citizens' groups. For eight years-- a record term -- David served as Honorary Mayor of Brentwood, a suburb in Los Angeles.

In addition to the newspaper columns, books, television and radio, David's advice and guidance has been sought in testimony before government bodies, consultations with international corporations, support of ballot propositions and personal appearances. David is also dedicated in guiding young people toward careers as consumer affairs professionals in business, government, politics and journalism, through his non-profit Fight Back! Foundation for Consumer Education.

In Marquis' Who's Who in America, David commented on what motivates him:

"Life is full of compromise, but to compromise principle is to give up your self respect. I don't want anyone to take me for a sucker, and I don't like to see anyone else taken, either. A lot of things are unfair in life. It's tough: That's the way it is. But by heaven, if you can do something about it, do it!"

David lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their golden retriever "Curtis."
